We stayed here over Columbus Day weekend. The campground was very clean and very quiet. We stayed in site #88 which was very spacious. Site was gravel and fairly level. There is a swimming pond, a fishing pond and a small playground. The kids kept busy riding bikes, fishing (plenty of sunfish) and playing in the woods and on the rocks in our site. The sites by the fishing pond are more open, while the area where we were is wooded. Bathrooms are dated but clean. Showers were free. Staff was friendly and helpful. Staff patrols at night. There is no camp store to speak of. No out-of-state firewood allowed. The website lists a game room, but I didn't see one. I didn't ask about it either, the kids were having plenty of fun without it. We will definitely go back.
A small, quiet campground on the Natchaug River. We had a full hook-up pull through site that was pretty level and spacious. This area of the campground is not very private but the other 5 pull through spots were empty so it wasn't a problem. River sites are nice but only have water and electric. Seasonal campers were friendly except for one woman who was being very mean to her young grandchildren and was screaming some very nasty names at them. Playground equipment is outdated. The lodge has 4 video games (2 were out of order), fuseball table and pool table. Very limited planned activities. Good campground for a long weekend but I think the kids would get bored quickly if we stayed any longer. The seasonal kids appeared to be bored and took to jumping on picnic tables, in empty sites, trying to flip them over.
This park was just too big for our tastes. Campers were jammed in everywhere. Campground traffic was non-stop until around midnight. We were camped next to a site that had 3 tents, a screen house, 3 dogs and 6 people, or as my wife called it,'the refugee camp'. The dogs would bark when anyone passed their site which was about every 30 seconds, there was trash and food scraps and dirty dishes all over their picnic table(we ended up with ants in our camper). I kept having to chase off a stray cat that kept trying to bring us a dead chipmunk as a 'welcome' present. Dumpsters were full on Saturday night and were pretty ripe by Sunday night. Drunk, noisy neighbors across the street, snobby seasonals all over the place. Constant road noise from Rte. 6. The only good things about this place were a decent playground with fairly new equipment, clean bathrooms and the access to the Cape Cod Canal trail. Other than that, I think we will pass on a return visit.
Family campground is part of a Lutheran conference center/summer camp/day camp. This is a very family oriented campground. Campground was very clean and quiet, located on Lake Ossipee with a nice beach for the use of the family campground(summer/day camp has own separate beach area). Although this is a Lutheran run campground, there is no expectation or pressure to attend any religious activities. Activities included movie night, ice cream social and tye-dye t-shirt making. Bathrooms and showers were extremely clean at all times. Staff was very polite and friendly. You can also have meals at the conference center if you wish. Good food at very reasonable prices. We will definitely return.
Very quiet and clean park. No activities but there is a playground(plenty to keep our 4 & 6 year old happy), basketball court and tennis court. Park is within minutes of state beaches and ferry to block island. Restaurants and shopping nearby. I personally did not use the restrooms, but my wife and children did and I didn't hear any complaints. We will definitely be going back again.
